Manga is an art form which comprises expression through use of cartoons and comics. The defining characteristic of Manga is the fact that it’s normally created in Japan, done by Japanese authors or written in Japanese. Generally speaking, a Manga comic is one which is in conformity to the general Japanese comic style. The word ‘Manga’ in itself means comic in Japanese. I’ve always wondered what some of those Japanese symbols and meanings are that they use in the manga comics. Often you see them being screamed out in some crazy speech bubble, or being represented in some other way. I guess they use them to help convey a sound or feeling in the comic, but some are just plain weird. I’ve taken to reading manga on the bus in the mornings on the way to work, it’s about an hour each way and when I get on it’s usually quite empty which is great as I always get a seat.

I have been a fan of Japanese pop culture since time immemorial. I have a cousin in Japan and she recommended I watch a certain anime series.
